Being The Oldest

Being the oldest out of 5 comes with A LOT of responsibility in terms of helping around the house and helping my parents with my younger siblings. My parents have always been away from home a lot because of their jobs. We were always taken care of by my grandma or my aunt. But now that I'm older, I'm basically the one who looks over my younger siblings while they're gone. Between college, work, and helping around the house and my younger siblings (especially because the two youngest are two and four years old), it can get overwhelming. But along with all the responsibilities that come with being the oldest, I also get the chance to see them grow and reach milestones in their lives. And that's the beauty of it. Recently, my 4 year old sister started her first day of school, and I was just as excited as she was. And in a couple months, I'll get to see my one of my brothers graduate from high school and head to his training for the US National Guard, and the other graduate from eighth grade. Although they can be a handful sometimes, I feel blessed to be able to see and help them grow and achieve their goals. Being the oldest sucks at times, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
